Vocational Education as a Key Driver of Economic Transformation in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates, through the "UAE Vision 2031" and national initiatives such as Nafis, aims to build a knowledge-based, diversified, and sustainable economy. At the heart of this transformation is the promotion of local talent and their active integration into the country’s economic development.

To achieve this goal, traditional academic education alone is not sufficient. What is needed are practice-oriented training pathways that prepare Emiratis early on for real-world work environments and offer them concrete career opportunities within companies. Vocational education – especially following the example of Germany’s dual system – provides a proven and structured framework: it combines solid theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in the workplace, and strengthens employability, personal responsibility, and future prospects for young Emiratis.

Thus, vocational education not only contributes to individual development but also serves as a strategic lever for the successful implementation of Emiratisation across key sectors of the UAE economy.
