As part of the Export initiative Energy funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the German-Emirati Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) organized an energy trade mission on “Energy Efficiency in Buildings” to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) together with the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC) from June 5th to 9th, 2023.
Part of the energy trade missions were DAW SE known for their brand Caparol, LED Light Germany GmbH, MIG Material Innovative Gesellschaft, mycon GmbH, Oppermann Regelgeräte GmbH, Remote Control GmbH, Rubitherm Technologies GmbH.
The event started with an introductory briefing of the participants with market insights being provided by Schlüter Graf & Partner, TÜV Rheinland Middle East, the German Embassy and the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK). The objective of the trade mission was to market Germany as an expert provider in the fields of energy efficiency in buildings, as well as to provide a platform for the participating German company representatives to present their products and services to local companies, public institutions and authorities. Among the local companies were ADDC, Brothers Gas, DEWA, Diamond Developers, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, EEE Group, Elite Duct Services, Grand Plaza Mövenpick, IMCD, Ista, KEZAD, Killa Design, Kidzink, Masdar, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Multiline Electro Mechanical LLC, Pullman Downtown Dubai, Rosewood Abu Dhabi, RSA Talke, Trox, Trosten Industries, Yellow Door, W Hotel Yas Island and WSP.
The highlight on the second day was the symposium “Energy efficiency in buildings – Technologies for a sustainable future, Made in Germany“ with a keynote speech of Dr. Waleed Alnuaimi, CEO of Etihad ESCO. The symposium gave local experts and experts from Germany the platform to the introduce state-of-the-art technologies, examples from Germany and insight into the UAE market with its opportunities. A special thanks goes to our guest speakers including Dr. Achim Dercks, CEO of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), Mrs. Katja Decker, Head of Press & Economic Affairs, German Embassy in the UAE, Mrs. Laura Scharlach, Head of Division, Renewables Academy AG, Mr. Afshin Afshari, Fraunhofer Institute and Dr. Pablo Izquierdo López, Energy Efficiency & Renewables Office (REEM), Ras Al Khaimah Municipality.
