The DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) was founded by the engineer and author Max Eyth in the year 1885. It has over 25,000 members and is a leading organisation in the agricultural and food sectors. The DLG is an expert organisation, open to all and politically independent with a mandate to promote technical and scientific progress. With its various projects and activities the DLG sets standards and provides impulses for progress. The DLG operates internationally and shares knowledge and expertise worldwide with leading international practitioners, experts and other specialist organisations. The DLG discusses, develops and communicates solutions for the future at over 120 conferences, seminars, workshops and congresses every year. Its main activity areas are knowledge transfer and exhibitions for the food and agriculture industry, machinery and farm input tests and food tests.
