On the occasion of the visit of H.E. Katherina Reiche, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, we had the pleasure of hosting the UAE–Germany Energy Forum in Abu Dhabi.
Held under the umbrella of the Emirati-German Energy Partnership, the forum brought together high-level representatives and industry leaders to discuss the future of energy cooperation between the UAE and Germany.
The forum began with welcome addresses by H.E. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy & Petroleum Affairs (Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, MoEI), and H.E. Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, BMWE).
The first panel discussion, “Energy Grids of the Future”, explored how electricity, gas, and hydrogen infrastructure can be strengthened between Europe and the Gulf region.
Moderated by Matthias Schimmel (Guidehouse), the discussion brought together Dr. Georg Nikolaus Stamatelopoulos (EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG), Dr. Faye Alhersh (Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), Dr. Egbert Laege (SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH), Carolin Nadilo (thyssenkrupp), and Dipak Sakaria (Moei UAE), who shared perspectives on future energy needs, digitization, and coordinated system planning.
The second panel, “AI and Innovation for the Energy System,” focused on the growing role of AI-driven data centers, innovative energy solutions, and regulatory frameworks to support expanding computing demand.
Under the moderation of Henrik Schult (Guidehouse), the panel featured insights from Dr. Mike Roshchin (Inception), Dominik Asam (SAP), Moritz von der Linden (Marvel Fusion) and Sven Przywarra (LiveEO).
The forum concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Christoph Ploß (BMWE) and Maryam Al Shamsi (MoEI). A sincere thank you to all speakers, partners and attendees who contributed to this meaningful exchange.
