From September 24 to 25, the German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar, in cooperation with Invest Qatar and the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council, conducted a visit to the United Arab Emirates to engage with German companies in Dubai. The delegation’s goal was to present the latest developments within Qatar’s innovation landscape and to explore new opportunities for collaboration with German businesses operating in the region.
The visit commenced with a Business Breakfast that highlighted Qatar’s dynamic economic growth and its rapidly evolving innovation ecosystem. Invest Qatar presented the country’s favorable investment environment – from competitive incentives to long-term development strategies designed to attract and retain international investors.
A particular emphasis was placed on innovation and research. The QRDI Council outlined Qatar’s vision to position itself as a global hub for scientific research and knowledge-based industries, emphasizing national support programs that drive investments in technology-intensive and innovation-led sectors.
A key highlight of the visit was a panel discussion on Qatar’s transformation journey – from an energy-based economy to an innovation-driven nation. In dialogue with international stakeholders, including SAP and the legal experts from AMERELLER, participants discussed opportunities and challenges in areas such as regulation, research, and technological advancement.
The program also included a visit to Wilo MENA’s production facility, where the delegation was introduced to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and explored potential avenues for cooperation in sustainable water and energy solutions.
The visit concluded with a stop at the Arablab Trade Fair, where over 80 German companies exhibited their latest innovations at the German Pavilion. Discussions focused on innovative technologies and business opportunities for expanding operations into Qatar.
The delegation’s visit underscored Qatar’s growing role as a regional hub for innovation and investment and reaffirmed the strong economic ties between Germany, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
