After three intensive and highly productive days in Doha and Abu Dhabi, the German business delegation arrived in Dubai as part of the Market Entry Programme (MEP) focused on decarbonizing heavy industry and the oil and gas sector. Supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and organized by VDMA and MENA Business GmbH in cooperation with the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK), the program provided participants with in-depth insights into the UA’s industrial landscape and emerging opportunities for collaboration.
The day began with a visit to Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the UAE’s largest industrial company outside the oil and gas sector. Christian Witsch offered a detailed overview of EGA’s contribution to the UAE Net Zero 2050 strategy as well as the company’s ongoing initiatives to reduce emissions in aluminium production. A guided tour of the extensive production facilities allowed the delegation to experience the scale, innovation and technological capabilities of EGA firsthand.
Bringing the German companies to the UAE also created an excellent opportunity for direct engagement with local industry stakeholders. Rittal FZE kindly hosted a roundtable at their headquarters in Jebel Ali, bringing together the visiting delegation with VDMA and AHK members based in the UAE. The roundtable encouraged open and constructive discussions on current challenges, future opportunities and potential areas for deeper cooperation in the field of industrial decarbonization. We extend our sincere thanks to Rittal, especially to Harry Ahmet and Ignatius Avinash, for their warm hospitality and valuable support.
The programme concluded with a visit to the Oilfield Supply Center (OSC) in Dubai, where the delegation was guided through the manufacturing facilities. Participants gained a first-hand impression of OSC’s operations and learned more about the dynamics of the UAE’s industrial ecosystem, including its strong focus on localization, innovation and sustainable growth.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all partners, hosts and participants who contributed to a highly insightful and successful final day in Dubai.
