From 20–24 October 2025, a delegation from Baden-Württemberg explored renewable energy and green hydrogen opportunities in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Organized by AHK and in close collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Baden-Württemberg, the program aimed to strengthen cooperation in the energy transition and identify pathways for joint R&D and industrial collaboration.
In the UAE, the delegation met with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, and industrial players such as Emsteel, where a green hydrogen pilot project has been driving decarbonization in heavy industry. Site visits to the DEWA Green Hydrogen project, the Siemens Energy Innovation Center at Khalifa University and the University’s Research and Innovation Center on CO2 and Hydrogen (RICH) offered valuable insights into the current status and ambitions of the UAE’s emerging hydrogen economy. The program also included a briefing with the Economic Representative of the State of Baden-Württemberg in Abu Dhabi, Anas Aljuaidi, as well as an industry roundtable with representatives from German and local companies, offering the delegation a platform to exchange experiences and having an open discussion about the current state of doing business in the UAE and the region.

Discussions throughout the visit highlighted strong mutual interest in technology partnerships, pilot projects, and knowledge exchange between Baden-Württemberg and the Gulf region.

This delegation trip was part of the international projects supported by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Baden-Württemberg, implemented by IHK Ulm and IHK Bodensee-Oberschwaben, in cooperation with the IHK-Exportakademie GmbH and the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK).
