COP28 Executive Roundtable

14/12/2023

The Private Sector is ready for 1.5°C.

During COP28, we had the honor of organizing an esteemed Executive Roundtable in partnership with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) on the topic: "The Private Sector is ready for 1.5°C"

The role of the private sector extends beyond contributing innovation, technologies, and business models to achieve the 1.5°C target. It also holds significance on the global climate stage by actively participating in climate dialogue, offering solutions, and showcasing best practices for both mitigating and adapting to climate change.

The mobilization of private sector innovation and investments is indispensable for steering towards a resilient and net-zero future. This includes endeavors such as tripling renewable energy, doubling efficiency measures, and promoting the widespread adoption of Hydrogen.

We were honored to welcome

H.E. Ahmed Alattar, UAE Ambassador to Germany
H.E. Sybille Pfaff, German Consul General Dubai
H.E. Stefan Wenzel, Parliamentary State Secretary Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action

Ellen von Zitzewitz, Deputy Head of Division VB1 at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), led the conversation.

Norbert Gorißen, Deputy Special Envoy for Climate Action at the German Foreign Office, provided an overview of COP28 and outlined the broader strategic objectives for climate protection from the German perspective.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens Middle East, for his valuable contributions to the in-depth discussion and for graciously hosting the event at Siemens' facilities in Expo City.
