AHK General Assembly elects new Board of Directors

The German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) held its Annual General Assembly on Monday, 11th December 2017 in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai. This year’s event was of particular importance due to the election of the new Board of Directors for the next two-year term. A significant number of attendees, including representatives of German and UAE institutions as well as company representatives, attended the event.

The annual meeting of AHK was the occasion for a review of the work of the joint council, whose main mandate is to support and promote the economic relations between German and the United Arab Emirates.

The event was opened by H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Shihhi, Undersecretary UAE Ministry of Economy who addressed the excellent status of the bilateral business relation between Germany and the UAE. Further welcome addresses were conveyed to the audience by H.E. Saeed A. J. Al Fahim, Chairman of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) and H.E. Günter Rauer, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In his keynote speech Dr Raed Safadi, Chief Economic Advisor of Dubai Economy – Dubai's Department for Economic, shared his views on the positive outlook for the UAE economy in 2017-2019. He also highlighted the results already achieved as well as the future milestones for the implementation of Dubai’s Strategic Plan 2021 which promotes the diversification and sustainable growth of Dubai’s economy.

The attending members were informed about the activities of AHK in the past year and the audit results. The Assembly elected the new AHK Board of Directors which consists of 18 Emirati and German business people.
