AHK elects new Board of Directors
The German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 29th of June 2021 in Dubai as a hybrid event – combining the irreplaceable pleasure of a “live” in-person event with the convenience of a “virtual” online meeting.
This year’s event was of particular importance due to the election of the new Board of Directors for the next two-year term. A significant number of attendees, including representatives of German and UAE institutions as well as company representatives, attended the event.
We had the honor to open the AGM with a warm greeting from H.E. Mariam Al-Muhairi, UAE Minister of State for Food & Water Security and Special Envoy for Germany who spoke to us through a video message from Germany where she is currently on a state visit. H.E. Ahmed Ali Al-Sayegh, Minister of State, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation and “AHK Patron” also joined the event stressing his personal and the UAE Government’s commitment to further strengthening the economic cooperation between UAE and Germany.
As usual the annual meeting of AHK was the occasion for a review of the work of the joint council, whose main mandate is to support and promote the economic relations between the two countries. Oliver Oehms, CEO of AHK reported about the activities of AHK in the past year and the financial and audit results.
Thank you to all our guests of honor – H.E. Saeed A.J. Al Fahim, AHK President and Dr Holger Bingmann, the German “AHK Patron” –, the Steering Committee of the newly established AHK Startup Desk as well as to all AHK members and guests who contributed to this successful event.
The Assembly also elected the new AHK Board of Directors consisting of 18 senior Emirati and German business people. The Board will be guiding the development of AHK for the coming two years. Congratulations to the elected Board Members and a warm welcome in particular to the “new entry” Serkan Guerguen, Senior Director Sales Middle East, North Africa and Turkey at Lufthansa Group Airlines.
