On 18th of June 2025, we were delighted to welcome around 200 members of the AHK to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK), an important yearly event for our business community. We had a great gathering of industry leaders, government officials, and distinguished guests, including H.E. Saeed A. J. Al Fahim, Chairman of the AHK, and H.E. Sybille Pfaff, the German Consul General.
The evening started with a warm greeting from AHK CEO Dr. Martin Henkelmann, followed by an opening speech from H.E. Saeed Al Fahim. He highlighted the significance of our nations' collective strength in promoting bilateral business and trade relations, as well as the important role that the AHK plays in this effort.
The CEO's report provided insightful updates on AHK’s strategic initiatives and accomplishments over the past year, emphasizing the commitment to growth in the region.
The financial report was presented by our treasurer Mehtap Ak-Sisman.
During the voting session, we worked together to discharge the Board of Directors and welcomed a new board member, Luis Monreal, the Director of Sales for the Middle East at Lufthansa Group. This ensures we have both continuity and new ideas to lead our organization into the future.
The official part of the AGM wrapped up with an awards ceremony for “DER IMPULS,” which celebrated the success of our mentoring program. Recognizing the hard work of both mentors and mentees added inspiration to the evening.
After a short break, we moved into an executive forum with insightful speeches. H.E. Alexander Schönfelder, the German Ambassador to the UAE, provided an overview of the current political situation. Shaima Al Aydarous, the Director of Trade Negotiations and International Organizations at the UAE Ministry of Economy, emphasized the strong trade relations between the UAE and Germany.
This was followed by a powerful keynote address by Nenad Pacek on the economic outlook for the Middle East and Africa. The discussions were timely and thought-provoking, offering valuable insights for navigating the changing global landscape, especially important given the current situation in the region.
