ICT / Technology Committee

Sectorial overview

ICT belongs to the sectors of highest growth rate in the UAE and comprises about 20% of the investments in the MENA Region.
As a consequence of the rapid growth of the IT market, deployment of new technologies and solutions becomes inevitable.
More details about the ICT sector, its presence and objectives in the UAE & GCC can be found here.

This Committee provides service to AHK members professionally involved in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and who express interest in gaining better insight into the various parts of this fast growing sector and its business potential.
The objective is therefore to give members a framework in which they can learn, share experience and improve their access within the field.

The Committee seeks to create a focus for ICT-related businesses, develop a coherent program centered on business and technology issues, and provide a framework for relevant learning, networking and facilitation of access to information and players in the ICT-sphere.

Dubai is without a doubt on the right path to become an innovation hub of the UAE, if not the entire Middle East Region in the years to come.
The announcement made by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in October 2013 to transform Dubai into a “Smart City”, clearly indicates the government’s push to apply high-tech approaches and technologies in order to ease a daily life of the UAE resident.
Ever since, a number of interesting events and conferences has been ignited in the UAE to discuss the approaches and progress in the implementation of the same.

Following the hype, the AHK’s ICT Committee is being expanded into a Technology Committee, as of November 2014.
Our Technology Committee will tackle innovative solutions and developments such as for example Dubai Smart City project, drone technology, LED systems, among others that are already available, or are being introduced into the region.
A series of interesting events including life demonstrations will be scheduled over the next months to enable the audience to literally touch the smartest developments of our era and contribute with their knowledge and ideas to the projects planned around one of the fastest evolving and high-living places in the World.
We will be pleased to welcome you to be a part of it!
