Welcome Dr. Martin Henkelmann

As of January 1st Dr. Martin Henkelmann joined the AHK as CEO of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK).

Dr. Henkelmann draws his extended personal and professional experience from working with companies at the crossroads of business and public affairs for over 20 years.

After practicing as a lawyer in Germany for over 4 years, he joined a leading governmental affairs consultancy in Brussels. In 2009 Dr. Henkelmann took on new challenges with one of the largest German business associations, first leading its Brussels’ operation, then as Head of Cabinet in Berlin and later as Head of International Affairs.

Dr. Henkelmann joined the AHK network in 2014 as CEO of the German-Tunisian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Between 2018 and 2021 he managed the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) before becoming President & CEO of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI).

Dr. Henkelmann received a Doctorate in Law (Ph.D.) from the Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, Germany. He holds the bar exam (2nd state exam) from Germany and a master's degree in international law from the Paul Cezanne University, Aix-en-Provence, France. He speaks German, English and French.

Dr. Henkelmann is married, has two children and is a passionate tennis and field hockey player.
