On the 8th of June 2023 the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) celebrated their 25th Anniversary in the UAE with a dinner reception at Mandarin Oriental Dubai. Oliver Oehms, CEO of the AHK, and his regional team were pleased to receive 300 distinguished guests of member and partner companies as well as delegates of the German and Emirati government. We were extremely honored to welcome H.E. Mariam Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, who addressed in her speech the remarkable achievements of the AHK in the past 25 years. Her Excellency highlighted that both countries share strong ties and deep values. Germany and the UAE both thrive for innovation and work solution-oriented as active partners in addressing global challenges.
The UAE is Germany’s largest trading partner in the whole MENA region. The country attracts the majority of German investments in the Gulf Region with more than a thousand German companies established in the UAE. „Our two countries have a solid base for further cooperation not least on energy, but also on industry and climate action.“ stated Dr Dorothea Schütz, Deputy Director-General for Africa, Middle East, Foreign Economic, Cooperation and Trade Fair Policy, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Schütz emphasized on the strong bonds and mutual interest of both countries in terms of energy transition. The German-Emirati Energy Partnership, which was founded in 2017, recently gained momentum and plays a crucial role in driving climate action.
Dr Achim Dercks, Deputy CEO, German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) congratulated the chamber and pointed out that the AHK in the UAE has a unique and strong position and has become an essential component in the bilateral relations between Germany and the UAE.
The evening concluded with a dinner and networking reception.
