Symposium – Energy Efficiency and Renewables in Buildings 12th of November 2018 in Dubai
As part of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Export Initiative funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) organized a symposium on "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies in Buildings" with the support of Renewables Academy AG (RENAC) on 12th of November 2018 at the Roda Al Murooj Hotel in Dubai. Over 60 locally based company representatives and institutions took the opportunity to inform themselves about the latest innovative technologies from Germany.
Dr. Dalia Abu Samra Rohte, Deputy CEO of the AHK opened the event and welcomed the participants. Following which, Céline Kittel, regional director Middle East of the export initiative of RENAC presented the initiative "Energy solutions - made in Germany" and gave an overview of the German market with regards to the energy turnaround, followed by Johannes Michel from the German Solar Association who presented the German solar market, as well as the SHIP Projekt (The Solar Payback Project: Solar Heat for Industrial Processes). Prof. Dr. Jens Strüker, from the Fresenius University in Frankfurt introduced the role of Blockchain technologies in the energy transition before Ms. Amal Hamadah, UAE Ministry of Energy, gave an overview of the goals the UAE government has in the energy sector, as well as the programs initiated by the ministry. The last expert lecture was held by Pradeep Kumar Singh from Etihad ESCO, presenting the strategy and goals of the Etihad Energy Service Company (Etihad ESCO), with a special focus on the services available.
During the symposium, six companies from Germany who were part of a business delegation supported by the Export Initiative presented their products. Avancis GmbH was represented by Holger Herbst, EcoSyst GmbH by Saman Nahdjavani, Empuron AG by Hubert Medl, Solvera Lynx GmbH by Thomas Utz, Visioverdis GmbH Dr. Alina Schick and Wilo SE by Ahmed Fouad. Due to the introduction of standards for the reduction of energy consumption and increased sustainability, the demand for corresponding products and services is currently increasing in the UAE. The symposium enabled the participants to present their solutions in the context of energy-efficient building management in front of a broad specialist audience, as well as establish important contacts, thereby providing the basis for creating successful networks.
