The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is a true metropolis. Hamburg is one of Germany's greenest and most attractive cities thanks to its numerous green spaces and canals. Water dominates the landscape in Hamburg. Consequently the city boasts an incredible number of almost 2.500 bridges – more than Venice, London and Amsterdam together! Representative trading houses, wide walkways - Hamburg's boulevards have a tradition. The most popular of them is the Jungfernstieg. The boulevard along the Lake Alster is Hamburg's most traditional shopping promenade. Right next to the town hall is the Neuer Wall, one of the leading European luxury streets, which makes every shopping heart beat faster. In addition to many long-established specialized dealers, all the well-known fashion labels are also found here.

Hamburg's impressive harbor, the leading port of Germany and the third largest in Europe, is one of the city's biggest attractions, which can be easily explored by boat. For an active and relaxing family holiday, Hamburg is a perfect place with countless possibilities: from a walk along the beautiful Alster canals, picnics in one of the many city parks to interesting museums, Hamburg offers just the right mixture for young and old.

In addition, Hamburg is one of the 20 largest cruise ports in the world. The shipping companies with the most calls are AIDA, MSC and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. Cruise ships leave the harbor for destinations all over the world. At events such as the Hamburg Cruise Days or the annual harbor birthday, the cruise ships can also be admired from up close.

Since its opening in early 2017, the Elbphilharmonie has become Hamburg’s new landmark as well as the leading tourist attraction in all of Germany. In the gush of the river Elbe, surrounded by three sides of the water, the spectacular building combines three concert halls, gastronomy, a hotel and the public plaza, which offers visitors a unique panorama view over the entire city.

Hamburg also has a lot of culinary delights to offer. Treat yourself to a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants serving traditional fish or international cuisine. A large number of restaurants is even specialized in the Arabic cuisine.
