Qatar Germany Partnership launched in presence of Dr. Philipp Rösler, German Minister for Economic Affairs

During the delegation’s journey of Dr. Philipp Rösler, German Minister for Economic Affairs and Technology and Vice Chancellor, to Qatar, the Qatar Germany Partnership (QGP) was ceremonially launched in presence of H.E. Ms. Anne Ruth Herkes, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany and H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al-Khulaifi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar, in December 2011. QGP is a registered association in the German register of associations which will develop an exklusive and sustained partnership between Germany and Qatar. [more]
Review Event Highlights 2011
Events organised by the German Industry and Commerce Office (AHK) Qatar are well renowned and highly attended. In 2011 the AHK arranged among other events the Golf Tournament and the Red Carpet May Ball.
The Golf Tournament was jointly organised by the British, Dutch, Spanish, Scandinavian and German Business Councils in Qatar and took place at the Doha Golf Club. The German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) is managed by the AHK. CBSbutler, a multi-award winning recruitment firm specialised in the engineering and technology sectors, was the Diamond Sponsor co-hosting the event. In total, 74 players enjoyed a competitive round of golf on a challenging course. The winners on the day were Simon Taylor and Edo Swart in first place, Marten Helg and Clinton McNamara in second, and Gerrit Smitkamp and Martin A Porta in third. Networking among members continued after the golf tournament with a dinner and live music performances followed by the prize-giving.
Additionally, the AHK Qatar organised a fundraising Red Carpet May Ball at the W hotel in Doha in collaboration with Salam Stores, a leading chain of cutting-edge department stores in the Middle East. The diamond sponsor IBQ, the platinum sponsor Alfardan Automobiles – BMW Group and the gold sponsors ecoQ Environmental Expo, Lufthansa, Renautica and Züblin contributed to the success of this evening. The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H. E. Mrs. Anne Ruth Herkes, along with a number of prominent figures in the country, representatives of German and international companies in Qatar and members of the country’s German community. During the event, a glamorous fashion show was presented by Al Salam Stores displaying the latest fashion for summer 2011 collections of famous high-end brands. A fascinating dinner was concluded by a brief appreciation words from Mr. Oliver Moritz, Chairman of the Board of the German School in Doha who received the income of a raffle draw as charity donation from the AHK Qatar to support the school’s activities.
